Mr. Lukasiak...thanks for providing the perfect example of why Democrats lose national elections. Concerning your description of the south, that is "intolerance" personified, and since your Mama obviously forgot to tell you, I will. It is immoral to stereotype any group of people.

There is a simple strategy to deal with Iraq and Bush -- and avoid being accused of "not supporting the troops.  Fund a withdrawal of the troops.

Carl Levin from Michigan is apparently the big stumbling block in the Democrats efforts to put an end to Bush's slaughter of Americans in Iraq.   People like Levin hold committee chairmanships for ONE reason --- antiwar activists organized to elect six new Democratic Senators in 2006.

...and the evidence of this shameless political exploitation of a senseless and horrible tragedy goes well beyond mentioning it.

I checked in with Marc Ambider, who wrote the piece above, and he clarified that while Rahm won't stay at DCCC, his new leadership post at the House will more closely integrate DCCC activities with the House caucus.

Not only was Rahm Emmanuel not responsible for last Tuesday's takeover by they House, and examination of the actual numbers show that Rahm's strategy was a complete failure.

A week or so ago, I ran across the DCCC's "Red to Blue" page which listed the candidates in "Red" Congressional districts that the DCCC was supporting.  I immediately notice two things -- first, a lot of the names on the original list had lost, and more importantly, a lot of the candidates that were added very late in the game were those with strong NetRoots and BlueAmerica support.  

So I decided to start doing some research.

at 9:55, the Washington Post published a graphic that says 100% of the precincts in Montana have reported, and Tester has won.

Jeff Trandahl, the openly-gay former Clerk of the House who is at the center of this scandal, refuses to explain his role in the Foley coverup.

Trandahl is a director of the Human Rights Campaign. http://www.hrc.org/...

HRC has consistently condemned the handling of the Foley matter -- issuing a number of press releases.... http://www.hrc.org/...

none of which, of course, mention Trandahl and his role in the scandal.

It took me a while, but I finally came up with a real phone number for someone at ABC who we should be talking to...

well, its 2.45PM on the east coast, and while every major left-wing website has been discussing Patrick Fitzgerald's latest filing, the big right-wing sites have ignored it completely.....

okay, not really.   I mean even though she may have managed to be the first conservative to tell Box Turtle Ben to resign when his plagarism became glaringly obvious, that's still no reason to praise her....

By now we all know that Democratic Party leaders were calling Hackett's "contributors" and asking them to withdraw their support.

And we all saw how viciously Kos went after Hackett when Paul withdrew from the race because Reid, Schumer, et.al., were intent upon destroying Hackett's candidacy....

The right-wing blogosphere is going crazy over the fact that Bob Somersby of the Daily Howler's has accepted the basic premises of the efforts to discredit Joseph Wilson, and is trashing anyone who actually bothers to understand the dynamic at work here.  Most prominent on Somersby's hit list is Josh Marshall himself, whom Somersby accuses of proposing some sort of vast conspiracy including all eight Democratic Senators who "concocted" a cover story which explains why Cheney was never briefed on Wilson's mission.

The problem with Somerby's analysis, of course, is that Democrats are a minority on the Senate Select Intelligence Committee, and in order for those Democrats to get certain facts and conclusions into the report that they wanted in there, it was absolutely necessary to "compromise" on less crucial issues, like the specific details and descriptions of events surrounding Joseph Wilson's trip.   Trashing Wilson was a high priority for the GOP members of the committee, and maintaining the credibility of Joseph Wilson was a much lower priority for the Democrats.
