Horton Has The Flu

Fri Mar 07, 2008 at 06:20:03 AM PDT

A little Friday levity to share. Last night I had the good fortune to participate in Carbondale, Colorado's Seuss-A-Palooza, a local homage to Theodor Seuss Geisel, aka Dr. Seuss. I must say, it was a refreshing, delightful, warm local gathering of adults and young'uns that surely lifted all spirits in this season of political sword fighting. Highly recommended if you have an event of this nature in your whereabouts (usually held on or around Seuss' birthday, March 2nd). I could attempt comment here on the political undertones of Seuss' writings, or the comparisons between Bush and Dr. Seuss. But instead I'll just post my adaptation of "Horton Hears a Who" in observation of anyone who's suffered a bout with the crud this winter. Here's hoping a smile will contribute to your speedy recovery:

Horton Has The Flu

On the 6th day of March, in the mountains of Aspen,
In the white of the snow there was heard a great gaspin’
He was thrashing, and struggling with a chest full of goo
It was Horton the elephant, fighting the flu.

(don't skip the flip...)

Clean Cars & Oil Security - Lobby Senators NOW for Energy Bill amendment

Wed Jun 22, 2005 at 09:02:34 PM PDT

My first diary, so apologies in advance for inelegance...it's a long one, but worth it.

Following is an appeal I received from CalCars.org 's Felix Kramer, asking for help getting Senators behind the "Oil Security" floor amendment to the Energy Bill.

Read below - lots of links and contact phone/fax numbers to ask for support. CalCars is a driving force behind R&D on plug-in hybrid technology (modified Prius cars are getting a lot of press lately - non-modified Priuses have long waiting lists, and hybrids are and will continue to be the hot items on lots for the foreseable future - PEOPLE WANT THIS TECHNOLOGY). There are no silver bullets, but this is a group proving near-term solutions exist that can immediately impact domestic gas consumption, with a little bold thinking and gov. support it can gain momentum. Read on, then call. (I'll snip the piece to help trim it down)
( -much more below the fold)
