Meanwhile in Bizarro World - Plan Foiled!

Wed Mar 19, 2008 at 12:01:58 AM PDT

UPDATE:  Little Green Footballs is the one with comments, but those cockroaches have closed registration, thwarting any chance of constructive dialog.  Plan B?

Obama's speech was so astute that I couldn't imagine how anybody could disagree with him.  I mean, who's against progress?  (congress.)  After watching it, I shot over to the news websites after watching the video on youtube and reading a couple blogs over here about republicans and southerners falling for Obama for many of the same reasons as me (8 months ago, I thought he was the manchurian candidate because he came out of nowhere, but even if that turns out to be true, I'll still take him over mcwar).

More on the flipside.

Al Gore's Insignificant Nobel Prize - large images

Fri Oct 12, 2007 at 12:53:00 PM PDT

Al Gore received the Nobel Peace Prize today, but clearly from the news, more important news leads.

For instance, did you know that Anna Nicole Smith might be dead, but Captain America is BACK!

Emissions & PZEV Vehicles - Action Item

Thu Sep 06, 2007 at 09:56:48 AM PDT

Greetings Kossacks, I was just talking with a friend of mine who told me about something called PZEV, which I had never heard of before, but is basically a super low emissions ratings and vehicles that meet the criteria are CURRENTLY IN PRODUCTION.

He referred me to this article and I was totally alarmed with what I read.

So, just how green is a PZEV machine? Well, if you just cut your lawn with a gas mower, congratulations, you just put out more pollution in one hour than these cars do in 2,000 miles of driving. Grill a single juicy burger, and you've cooked up the same hydrocarbon emissions as a three-hour drive in a Ford Focus PZEV. As the California Air Resources Board has noted, the tailpipe emissions of these cars can be cleaner than the outside air in smoggy cities.

The gas mileage is the same as the polluting counterparts, but the emissions are significantly lower--lower than anyone thought was possible with internal combustion.

You want one, don't you?  Well, follow me for information on how you can get yours.

Panic fatigue and Tinfoil hattery

Tue Aug 21, 2007 at 02:03:52 PM PDT

I would like to open this diary with two points.  First, I'm not looking to violate the site ToS about wild speculation and would like to indicate that I'm in the camp of "Surely not."  Second, I'm posting this diary only because I searched and saw nothing else on it.  I have been a long-time member and hope that you can appreciate that I'm not looking for a spectacle or heated pie fight, just to get this idea out there so someone can reassure me that people who start these stories are crazy and that nothing this craven could ever happen here.

So what is this mystery subject?  Why it's Joint Forces Command Exercise "Noble Resolve."  From the Joint Forces website:

(SUFFOLK, Va. - Aug. 20, 2007) -- U.S. Joint Forces Command's (USJFCOM) Noble Resolve 07-2 kicked off today and will conduct a series of simulation-driven experiments throughout the week to enhance homeland defense measures and military support to civil agencies during natural or man-made disasters.

More below the flip.

UPDATED: censorship on the west coast?

Tue Jul 03, 2007 at 11:31:15 PM PDT

UPDATE:  I put this diary up not because I missed the special comment, but because I believe KO's Countdown was bumped off comcast last night because of his special comment.  Several commenters here have indicated they witnessed the same thing (Hollywood Vice instead of Countdown).  If you have any input on this or information, please comment below.  If you're in Washington or Oregon on Comcast, please indicate whether or not you saw KO.  Thanks.

Hey all, I just came downstairs from my friend's place who has cable.  I went up there because I wanted to watch Keith Olbermann's special comment on MSNBC, but at 8pm instead of countdown, there was a hollywood hookers docu-special so I waited until 11 for Countdown, figuring I had the time wrong as I'm not a regular tv viewer.

But when 11 pm rolled around, there was no special comment.

Grrr! Mike Straka's Exploding Head

Tue Jul 18, 2006 at 05:58:26 PM PDT

This is only going to barely not break the single-line diary rule, but I found a gem on foxnews.com that I'd like to hold up for all to see.

Mike Straka writes these hateful columns called "Grrr!" over at foxnews.com and no doubt on his own syndicated site.  Usually, he writes about "oblivions" (now it's "obliviots") who annoy him.

a pinch more after the fold.
