(Update)Three FLA Newspapers endorse Barack Obama

Sun Jan 20, 2008 at 12:57:04 PM PDT

Two Florida newspapers, the St Petersburg Times and the Palm Beach Post, have endorsed Obama for president today. The major Democratic candidates have pledged not to campaign in Florida, due to a dispute over moving up their primary. Unlike Michigan, however, all candidates' names are on the ballot. While I think Hillary Clinton will easily win the state, any positive press Obama gets there is good.

Why Obama and not Edwards? The war

Sat Feb 10, 2007 at 05:14:06 PM PDT

Didnt see much news about Obama today, so I thought I would post a diary. ;). First of all, I will say I dont dislike John Edwards. I think he has done good work with poverty. However, I am for Obama for president. The main reason I am  for Obama has to do with one word: Iraq.

Stem Cells Research: A veto-proof majority?(looking at the numbers)

Tue Nov 21, 2006 at 03:23:42 PM PDT

Stem cell research became a big issue in the 2006 mid terms. First, because Bush used his first ever veto on it, and then again, towards the end, when we saw the strength of Michael J. Fox, and the stupidity of Rush Limbaugh take center stage. In Missouri, stem cell research was certainly a prominent issue, and the Fox/Limbaugh incident drew attention to the issue nationally. In light of comments by Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid, that repealing the stem cell restrictions will be a top priority in the new Congress, I thought I would look at, roughly, how the votes have shifted as a result of the elections.

Dont forget the Governors! 2007-2008

Sun Nov 12, 2006 at 09:02:15 AM PDT

There has been lots of talk(logically) about the 08 races for president and 08 Senate. However, I havent see as much about governorships. Keep in mind 3 gubernatorial races take place less than a year from now, and 11 in 2008. They present both difficulties and possibilities for Democrats. Of course, you've heard multiple times that governors are the farm team for presidential candidates, which is true. They are also the bench for Senate candidates, to some degree as well. In addition, strong governors not only run their state well, but can strengthen their state party and change the political landscape. For example, KS gov. Kathleen Sebelius has taken advantage of the split in the KS GOP to the benefit of Democrats. Below the flip are the gubernatorial races we face in the next two years.

Tim McGraw(D) for TN Governor??

Fri Jan 13, 2006 at 10:05:10 AM PDT

An interesting story from USA Today. Country Music Star Tim McGraw has stated his intention to run for governor of TN sometime in the future(not this year, since an incubment Democrat is running). I guess this isnt earthshattering news or anything(I didnt add a breaking). It is rare, however, to see an openly Democratic country music star.

MD-Senate: Cardin(D) leads Michael Steele by 8%

Mon Nov 21, 2005 at 01:30:05 PM PDT

Sorry if this was posted or frontpaged already, I will delete if so. A Rasmussen Reports polls shows Rep. Ben Cardin leading Lt. Gov Michael Steele in the race for U.S. Senate. I'm kind of suspicious of the poll though.
