Rationalizing for Inaction on Impeachment
Mon Nov 13, 2006 at 11:19:14 AM PDT
Those of us who urged that the Dems run the campaign on impeachment -- which may well have allowed them to surf the anti-bush wave as opposed to just having it wash them up over the line -- are a bit perplexed.
The most often voiced naysaying was some form of "wait until we win the election first." Well, the election is won and I still detect no greater interest in impeachment.
Instead we have a new round of objections which include: trust our "leaders," the system of "oversight" will do it for us, we must "teach" the ignorant public and wait for the huge outrage, we must "push an agenda" instead, we can't "waste time," we can't risk "carnage in '08," and on and on.
These are little more than Rationalizations for Inaction.
Impeachment IS Our Positive Agenda.
Impeachment -- Now, More Than Ever
Thu Sep 07, 2006 at 01:57:02 AM PDT
If we don't "nationalize" this election, it may remain close enough to steal (again).
Whatever our "leaders" stratego-collegial-politico-electoral objections to impeachment calls are (other than just rationalizations for inaction), they cannot answer the simple question.
What is your magic solution to "rule by signing statement?"
Without this, nothing can be promised. There is no "positive agenda" or "6 point plan" or "Securer Security plan" that will ring anything but hollow in the face of it.
A shiny new not-even-veto-proof majority in one or both houses of Congress will bring what result exactly?
You see, Impeachment IS Our Positive Agenda!
A Defacto Article of Impeachment -- from the Amer. Bar Assoc.

That's what their factual review of "rule by signing statement" amounts to.
Now if we could only get the "other Liebermans" among the DC/Euphemedia Analstocracy to a Cranial Rectoscopist, they might stop aiding and abetting this treason with their silent complicity.
(And consequently run the table in the newly-nationalized election in Nov. as a bonus for showing some patriotic, moral fiber for a change.)
But you actually have to say the word "Impeach" for that to happen.

Bar association president says signing statements erode democracy
Monday, July 24, 2006
WASHINGTON (AP) -- President Bush's penchant for writing exceptions to laws he has just signed violates the Constitution, an American Bar Association task force says in a report highly critical of the practice.
The RoadMap to Impeachment: "Violence" is The Answer
Sun Mar 05, 2006 at 02:23:37 AM PDT
This is my reaction to the
Harper's Magazine Impeachment event in NYC Thursday night. I found the discussion there brought a specific problem into sharp relief:
We all know what needs to happen, but we seem at a loss for "how to make in so."

It seems to me that "violence" is the missing element.
It's the First Blue Friday -- Impeachment or Bust!
Fri Feb 10, 2006 at 11:19:52 AM PDT
Are you gonna be able to say you were there ?!?
"I was in on the First Blue Friday."
This may be your one and only chance.
Don't be left out!
To demand no less than impeachment right now, follow these instructions:
1. Wear some blue.
Blue Fridays: Drumbeat to Impeachment
Sun Feb 05, 2006 at 07:19:42 AM PDT
The time has come to beat the drum for impeachment.
(Yes, now. No, we don't need to "take back" anything other than the souls/consciences of a few dozen Republican-Americans in Congress. Or promise them that "It's Pres. Hastert now, or Pres. Pelosi next year, you choose.")
From Rhode Island comes an idea that WE MUST SPREAD NATIONWIDE.
Blue Fridays
Wearing blue on Fridays until impeachment begins.
RI Dem Senate Candidate Carl Sheeler is showing the way. He's demanding that his reps in congress get off their butts and join John Conyers in his drive to do what we all know is right and necessary. >>>>
Yes Virginia, the bushkid WAS NEVER a President ...
Mon Jan 09, 2006 at 01:50:47 AM PDT
...since that has always been an elected office.
He was an appointed ruler, not an elected leader.
Now that others are beginning to see that this has been an Anti-American criminal enterprise since the start.
It's important to remember this, and repeat it to anyone who doesn't know, and tell it to our children from this time forward.
Why? Because it means that the (formerly) American People are not responsible for the crimes his regime has committed against this once-great nation and against the people of the world.
It was his election theft that took the American People "out of the loop" and made them "fair game" for terrorist attack. And he was unable to stop it because he didn't get help from the international community like the Real President, Bill Clinton did.
We must impeach, convict, and punish him and his cohorts, posthumously if necessary, because it is the only way to redeem Our National Soul.

Dem Salvation: A Single Step Solution to Iraq
Thu Dec 01, 2005 at 01:28:03 AM PDT
Well, the DC/Euphemedia Analstocracy has once again got the DC Dems chasing their own tails with rhetorical diarrhea about plans, withdrawls, cut and runs, resolves, blah, blah, blah...
There is a Single Step Solution for Iraq that the Dems could take to the American People that cuts through all the beltway bush*t.

STEP ONE ..... Remove the bushkid regime from office ASAP.

That's the plan. All of it. It really is just that simple.
And it really is the only patriotic option...
The GOP has LONG BEEN the party of treason.
Mon Oct 17, 2005 at 10:18:41 AM PDT
While it's nice that
some people are waking up to the fact, the GOP hasn't just "become" the party of treason.
Ever since the party was invaded by those (mainly from the souuth) who looked back with nostalgia at the racist theo-fascism of slavery, they've done little else but try to thwart the core values of the (former) US Constitution; those of democracy, justice, equality, opportunity, and meritocracy.
Let's review:
Hearing Dustup: You Heard it Here First
Fri Dec 10, 2004 at 10:57:56 AM PDT
Some of you may be aware of the brief back and forth at the Conyers hearings between the committee and "that woman" who wanted to finish reading her question to all Congress members asking them to take a stand now by endorsing a "Declaration of Intent."
Mike Malloy was certainly aware as he discussed it at length on his radio show Wed. night. The questioner even called in to the show and was allowed to finish the last 3 paragraphs (51 secs.) and tell the listeners where they could get access to the declaration, so they can send it to their "leaders" and demand that they take a stand.
But only a few are aware that the declaration has been sitting here on my diary over a week. Kossacks had it first and some have joined the effort to put congress on the spot.
Declaration of Intent
Wed Dec 01, 2004 at 01:04:31 AM PDT
We all still hope it won't come to this, but I am becoming more and more convinced that a just result in this
second stolen election will not be achieved with recounts and legal maneuvers.
The combination of concerted vote suppression and invisible vote-count padding may well be successful.
Therefore I think we should be prepared to achieve a political solution. And it can only help to make it clear that we are prepared to make our final plea to the American People directly. Or rather through our representatives in Congress.
I (and others) are proposing that we take action now!
We MUST change the FRAME
Fri Nov 26, 2004 at 11:35:02 PM PDT
As much as I applaud the efforts of those who seek evidence on which to act, I'm not convinced that any of them will give us what we need. Their MO for this theft was very comprehensive, and well-informed by the treason of 2000. Simple recounts or identified "anomolies" may not get us there.
Their parrots are ready to start squawking "popular vote, awk, popular vote!" should any individual state's facade be torn down by reality and justice. But their national "preferred(bush)-ballot" count is pure fiction. It does not represent the consent of the electorate.
But more importantly, we MUST change the FRAME of the issue.

We the People DO NOT Concede!
This declaration is now available in HTML TXT DOC formats. And a printable graphic (JPG).
In a true America, leaders serve only with the consent of the governed, and that consent must be obtained by lawful elections that accurately measure the will of the voters. We shall not tolerate any violation of this fundamental principle, the SOLE moral tenet on which our nation was founded and has since relied.
The voting systems and practices used in the conduct of this past election are so clearly flawed that the results in nearly every state are wide open to corruption by systematic vote suppression, data manipulation, human and machine error, and consequently, willful fraud. The only certain result is that we can have NO confidence in how accurately they guage the will of the electorate.
NARRATIVE is also Necessary
Tue Nov 16, 2004 at 01:36:35 AM PDT
(I've had more occasions to post this, now with the new article from Kerry lawyer, I thought I'd diarize for convenience.)
We've been seeing some great efforts to audit and reverse the (s)election results.
But I think something necessary is missing that could help engage many others in the effort and even inform our actions. Particularly FOIA requests.
I think all who refuse to let this second act of treason pass need to understand and project the narrative form of what actions were taken to steal the election this time. How it differed from the last time: to try to avoid both the detection and the successful legal challenge that they had were forced to overcome in 2000.
The narrative is this:
Eternal Hope says: If a citizen has legal standing ...
Fri Nov 12, 2004 at 06:36:22 PM PDT
...to file suit against these people, now is the time to do so.
I think that's great.
You have standing. It's your election.
I say file any paper you can. If you can find a pro bono lawyer, or one in the family, all the better.
But we can't wait for some party, or movement, or "leader" to save our country for us. We must start doing it ourselves.
But we can work together. Start spreading the declaration that started this diary. It isn't mine, it's all of ours. Make it your own cause. Get your local group behind it. Groups of activists, Dems, book clubs, knitters, pipefitter, whatever!
We've had enough he said, she said. It's time for some WE SAID.

We refuse to further descend into the Stalinist perversion of "democracy;" in which "Those who cast the votes decide nothing. Those who count the votes decide everything." Such was the clear underpinning of the 4-year-old edict of the 5 black-robed political operatives, who arrogated to themselves the perquisite of sentencing the nation by their fiat to live under appointed rule as opposed to elected leadership.
