2004 Election Explained: America Has Elephantitis

Mon Dec 06, 2004 at 05:21:57 PM PDT

Don't know if anyone has the stomach for humor these days, but one of my fellow contributors to QuipWire has given a new comedic spin on the Republican condition:

2004 Election Explained: America Has Elephantitis

After a thorough examination of the country, Physicians announced today that America has elephantitis, a disorder caused by the deadly republicoccus virus.

Second story on the main page.

NM BlackBox Numbers WAY Off

Thu Nov 11, 2004 at 03:38:15 AM PDT

I've said it several times that numerical discrepencies in election results are probably not the smoking gun, but a worker with Bev Harris' Black Box has just released some incredibly startling numbers of out NM:

New Mexico Numbers

Basically, there are several counties which reported Republican turnout of more than 100%.

Blue Talking Points

Wed Nov 10, 2004 at 05:56:52 PM PDT

There are several talking points from Rove's mouth that have already pervaded the media. Time for some focus from the true America:

  1. It was a narrow election.

  2. Bush's policies are ripping America apart.

  3. Bush is raiding Social Security.

  4. Bush cares more about oil than Bin Laden.

  5. Yes, terrorists could hack the election.

And remember, if you happen to be elderly and worry you may die before Bush is ousted, take solace in the fact that you will never see Bush in heaven.

Blue Values - All People Are Created Equal

Thu Nov 04, 2004 at 10:42:33 AM PDT

Someone suggested that Democrats need to change their platform on "values" to win. Well, I don't entirely agree. The reality is that Dems have much better records on "values"...but Bill Clinton, love him or no, gave a lot of ammo to the right. It's time to start, TODAY, with putting the truth out. Part of the division in this country is because people hate Bush, but don't really know where the Dems stand.

Buck up - it's better than you think

Wed Nov 03, 2004 at 03:53:38 PM PDT

Yeah, I know that it sucks that George Bush still thinks he's president, and yeah, I know it sucks that Americans are either:

a) too stupid to understand
b) too lazy to care (my personal favorite!)
or
c)not actually voting for Bush, but Diebold does it's work yet again.

But this isn't just a silver lining piece, or a "stick with it for the long haul". Sure, those are great, and noble sentiments. It isn't a one day event, to be true. But I'm offering some things everyone needs to think about, not only for today, but for 2006 and 2008.

Hacked!! Evidence mounting of vote hacking

Wed Nov 03, 2004 at 06:11:16 AM PDT

I stated earlier that I'm going to be working on organizing efforts to coordinate the technology community (which distrusts the current electronic voting) and the media to educate the public.

To that end, here is a breaking news story that hackers may have busted into the system counting the votes as early as six weeks ago.

People, you must understand how much Diebold's systems are not trusted by the technology community as a whole.

More as I learn it. I will also be posting a new site to organize these efforts in the coming weeks.

Boy, Seven, Taken Hostage in Iraq

Sun Oct 24, 2004 at 08:24:49 AM PDT

Scotsman.com is reporting that a seven year old boy has been taken hostage by gunmen in Iraq.

Gunmen in Iraq have abducted a seven-year-old Lebanese boy and are demanding a ransom for his release, Lebanon's official news agency reported today.

Mohammed Hamad, the son of Abdel-Ghani Hamad, who has lived in Iraq for 30 years, was kidnapped two days ago on his way home from school in the Diyala province east of the Iraqi capital of Baghdad, the state-run National News Agency said.

Another horrifying (and overlooked) figure posted in the article is the number of abductees:
Insurgents in Iraq have kidnapped more than 150 foreigners. Most have been kidnapped for ransom and freed unharmed, but at least 30 have been killed in a violent campaign to drive out coalition forces and hamper reconstruction efforts.

North Carolina Early Voter Turnout: 68% increase in one county

Sat Oct 23, 2004 at 11:34:29 AM PDT

The Winston-Salem Journal has confirmed what I already knew: voter turnout in NC is very high.

I voted early at the very precinct mentioned in the article. Anecdotal evidence: the two elderly voters in front of me were Dems, and two guys behind me who were very vocal about the fact they wanted Bush gone were, you guessed it, Republicans.

In the rear view: Has Bush already given up?

Thu Oct 14, 2004 at 06:59:54 AM PDT

In the final debate, I watched carefully for the demeanor of the two candidates. Both appears slightly subdued, as can be expected for this point in an exhausting campaign.

But there was a specific theme that resonated with this debate. During the debates Bush's father had with Bill Clinton and Ross Perot, there was a feeling among both Bush 41's supporters and his opponents that he "really didn't want" to win the campaign. I don't know how true that was, but in hindsight, it sure felt true.

President John Kerry's First 100 Days

Sun Oct 10, 2004 at 05:09:11 PM PDT

Congratulations to John Kerry, the new President of the United States. After a hard fought victory and an historic campaign, four years of usurped power have been restored.
John Kerry's victory might shake the beliefs of the atheists; maybe there is a God and he does love America after all.

But now, kidding aside, it's time for the hard part.

As a proud United States citizen, I will hold you accountable during your term, just as I held George Bush accountable. And here is what I expect in your first 100 days in office.

The Right Wing Spin Playbook

Fri Oct 01, 2004 at 03:26:27 PM PDT

Now is the time to wargame the opponent. The Right Wing Spin Machine (RWSM) will be hard presesd to launch a counterattack to the debate disaster. So what do we need to watch for?

Ripped from Karl Rove's secret 3.5 inch floppy, typed and double spaced, the not-so-super, not-so-secret RWSM Spin Attack Plan and how to see it coming:

Counterattack #1: Expect the RWSM to declare it a tie. It's a weak argument. Kerry not only won decisively, everyone thinks he won decisively. Do not allow the RWSM to simply keep preaching their message while we are celebrating.

Counterattack #2: The RWSM will claim Kerry won, but it didn't change the polls. This is the one to watch for! Right now, everyone in America thinks Kerry has pulled back into the race or is leading. When the Republicans trot out polls to show no change, it can be effective. Kerry has won the swing vote! and Momentum has swung for Kerry. The polls will show it. Repeat it loudly.
