Use Rove's Comments to Blast the Bush Administration!

In an interview this week, Rove made the following statement:

"Liberals saw the savagery of the 9/11 attacks and wanted to prepare indictments and offer therapy and understanding for our attackers," Rove said. "Conservatives saw the savagery of 9/11 and the attacks and prepared for war."

He followed that up with:

"Conservatives saw what happened to us on 9/11 and said we will defeat our enemies. Liberals saw what happened to us and said we must understand our enemies."

The dems are going after him on this, demanding a retraction. We need to join them in twisting the screws on Rove and his cronies.

In my opinion, we can use Rove's comments to blast the Bush administration. First off, Rove claims that the dems wouldn't have pursued military action in response to 9/11, which we can easily show to be an outright lie. There was very strong bipartisan (and international) support for going after the responsible terrorists in Afghanistan. Democrats and republicans were completely united in going after terrorists after 9/11, yet Rove is now politicizing that tragic event and trying to divide us. It's dispicable to use 9/11 for political gain, and we need to call him on it.

In addition, Rove has given us a great opportunity to call attention to several things: (1) The 9/11 attackers were terrorists trained in Afghanistan, yet the Bush administration shifted away from those who attacked us in order to go after Saddam, who did not. (2) While we're losing American lives and spending many billions of dollars on an unjustified war in Iraq, a country that had nothing to do with 9/11, Bin Laden remains free and his Al Qaeda network is now much larger than it ever was before 9/11. (3) We had several opportunities to take out a key leader from the Al Queda network, al-Zarqawi, yet the administration intentionally chose not to go after him because they thought it would damage their efforts to justify the invasion of Iraq. In other words, they deliberately let the true 9/11 attackers off the hook to pursue their political agenda.

Let's blast Rove on this for for trying to use the tragic events of 9/11 to promote his own political agenda. Let's join the dems in demanding a retraction. Let's write our republican representatives and senators, ask them if Rove speaks for them, and demand that they, too, ask for a retraction from Rove.
